Compensation

Salary Range: $74.17 - $118.67 / hour

The pay range above represents the lowest possible rate for the position and the highest possible rate. Factors that may be used to determine where newly hired employees will be placed in the pay range include the employee specific skills and qualifications, relevant years of experience and comparison to other employees already in this role. Most often, a newly hired employee will be placed below the midpoint of the range. Responsibilities

Position Overview:

Promotes the vision, mission and goals of the Health System through the management of the Surgical Services Departments for CMHS. Responsible for the clinical, fiscal, and personnel management of individual services lines on a 24-hour, 7 day basis at CMH and OVCH. Participates in the development and implementation of strategic plans and operational objectives.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
1. Coordinates and evaluates activities to ensure balanced and adequate program, and to formulate progressive program designed to meet changing needs of community and the Healthy System.

2. Promotes and develops strategic relationships with physicians, facilitates good working relationships between physicians and staff.

3. Ensures compliance with all Federal, State and accrediting and licensing agency standards and regulations.

4. Design, facilitates and/or implements performance improvement projects to improve patient care process and systems at CMH and OVCH.

5. Directs collection, analysis, and interpretation of statistics significant to program planning and budget preparation.

6. Prepares and submits budget estimates for nursing activities.

7. Participates in established programs for guidance and professional development of licensed and unlicensed staff, and in establishing personnel policies, qualifications, and salaries.

8. Recruits, selects, and assigns personnel.

9. Responds to customer (patient and physician) concerns in a responsive, timely, and respectful manner.

10. Performs other duties as assigned.

Supervisory Responsibilities:
Is responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of all Surgical Services units at CMH and OVCH. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the Health System's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems. The Director of Surgical Services' has a primary office at CMH however 15% of time is allocated to OVCH oversight with a minimum of eight (8) hours of monthly onsite commitment.

Qualifications

Required

    Bachelor's of Science Degree in Nursing (BSN)
  • Current California RN License
  • Current BLS Certification
  • Four (4) or more years of progressive management experience
  • Certified Nurse Operating Room (CNOR)
