CNC MACHINE OPERATOR III OR IV WEEKEND SHIFT
Weekend Shift:
Friday, Saturday & Sunday
6:00am - 6:30pm
Work 36 hours, paid for 40 hours!
Shift Differential for Weekend Shift: $4.00/hr!!
The role of the machinist is to set up and operate computer numerical control (CNC) and/or manual Bridgeport machines to machine parts with no assistance. Machining of tooling, production parts, and fixtures within the confines of scheduled delivery dates and customer satisfactions. The machinist must be able to communicate with co-workers regarding production runs, and maintains a safe, organized and clean work environment.

Description
  • Sets up and operates automated CNC Vertical & Horizontal Machines.
  • Must have proven skill set to set up and operate Vertical 3 axis and Horizontal 4 & 5 axis machines.
  • Must be able to demonstrate the ability to understand rotation of fixtures as applied to Horizontal Machine set up.
  • Must be versed in Rotary or Indexing capability as the application applies to the Horizontal and Vertical Machines.
  • Employee will need to understand the A, B and X, Y, Z axis on all machines.
  • Optimize process to achieve maximum efficiency.
  • Save updated programs.
  • Receive daily instructions from Shop Floor Supervisor.
  • Check parts to ensure they meet blueprint specifications using proper gauges.
  • Perform daily point checks on machine and report concerns to Shop Floor Supervisor.(Noted leaks, noises, functionality)
  • Use proper feed and speed for maximum efficiency.
  • Deburr as required for work in process.
  • Train new hires or apprentices as requested.
  • Follows all safety policies and procedures.
  • Meets departmental/company goals and objectives in a timely manner. (Such as; Efficiencies, Scrap control, Time motion and Setup time reductions.)
  • Arrives to work, meetings, appointments, and other work-related functions on time and as scheduled.
  • Interpretation of drawings, sketches, and/or working to set up sheets and verbal instructions.
  • Adapting shop practice, methods, and techniques to fit each new situation and properly sequencing machining operations.
  • Performing cutting, turning, drilling, boring, reaming, tapping, and finishing operations where tolerances range from 0.030 to 0.0003 inch. This includes setup of machine and fixtures for any of the various operations while working with such materials as steel, stainless steel, aluminum, brass, copper, magnesium alloys, plastics, and exotic aerospace metals.
  • Use of scales, calipers, internal and external micrometers, height gauges, surface gauge, and dividers to determine that the part is being machined to the proper configuration.
  • Math Skills: Good math skills will help CNC machinists understand complex instructions, how schematics work and make sure items are designed and built correctly.
  • Problem Solving Skills: CNC machinists will need to know why machines are not at peak performance, how to increase output and how to fix errors.
  • Attention to Detail: CNC machinists will work with precision equipment. Being off by millimeters could be a critical error. Keen attention to detail is required.
  • Mechanical and Technical Skills: Machines controlled by computers will need operators who understand CAD/CAM technology.
  • Stamina: CNC machinists often work long hours doing repetitive movements.

Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or GED. Or a four year apprenticeship program. ( ie. Tulsa Tech. ) Preferred but not required
  • Must own tools supply for daily tasks (i.e. micrometers, indicators, edge finders, etc.)
  • Five years' experience either in a production or job shop environment
  • Must be able to read and interpret blueprints/engineering drawings and work order instructions
  • Must be able to understand three, four and five axis machining
  • Must be able to understand the picking up of a center line of a horizontal table
  • Must have a working knowledge of computers
  • Must be able to take verbal and written instructions
  • Model reliability as outlined in Accurus Attendance guidelines
  • Demonstrated knowledge of G-Code programming and Horizontal machine practices
  • Demonstrated effective verbal, written, and communication skills
  • Must be able to work in a constant state of alertness and safe manner
  • Must have the ability to read and interpret documents in English, such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
Physical Demands and Work Environment
  • Lift up to 100lbs, pushing, pulling, standing for long periods of time, manual dexterity, visual acuity.
  • The typical work environment is an office setting; occasionally the employee may be required to visit the manufacturing areas and/or customer sites where they could be exposed to loud noises, fumes/odors and hazards associated with moving equipment.
  • Include standing for long periods of time, reaching, lifting and bending. Working with machine tooling equipment also comes with certain safety hazards. Employees must be able to follow equipment safety rules and use safe work practices to control these hazards. Some requirements include wearing the correct personal protective equipment, including safety glasses and earplugs, due to flying material bits and machine noise.
  • The use of PPE, including hearing protection, eye, and hand protection, and use of safety footwear may be required.
