PRIMARY PURPOSE/GENERAL DESCRIPTION:

Provide TA and Tutor support for Summer Biology faculty of the Keck Science Department, through the Post-Bac Premed Program.

DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• Under the direction of the Biology lab instructor, set up and clean up lab for Biology 43
• Mixes & prepares lab experiments
• Tutor approximately 24 summer students in the scientific and mathematical concepts necessary for Biology 43.
• The position reports to the lecture instructor, for the Biology 43 courses.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES:

Individuals must possess knowledge, skills and abilities to successfully perform the essential functions of the position, or be able to explain or demonstrate how the essential functions will be performed, with or without reasonable accommodation, using some other combination of skills and abilities.

• Experience with lab set up & clean up
• Experience tutoring Biology.
• Successful completion of Biology 43
• Ability to work independently and with others.

QUALIFICATION STANDARDS:

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

Some college coursework or recent college graduate preferredor any combination of education and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities.

Previous TA and Tutor experience is preferred.

HOURS & CLASSIFICATION AND STATUS:

This is a temporary status, part-time position (25 hours per week), non-benefits eligible, non-exempt position.

This temporary assignment is expected to begin on or after May 20, 2024, and end on or before August 9, 2024.

Hourly rate: $16.00. The hourly rate of the finalist(s) selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, internal equity, experience, education, specialty, andtraining.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY:

None.
