Job Summary

This position reports directly to the CSS Global HSE Director. Peers include the CSS European & Asia-Pacific Process Safety Leaders, and Subject Matter Experts (SME) in Process Safety programs in the Central Teams of KOP & DSEG. The accountability perimeter for this Regional Role would include manufacturing locations in the Americas (including Mexico & Brazil) for the Coating Solutions Segment (Coating Additives & Coating Resins Business Units).

The role exists to coordinate and oversee all programs, activities, issues, incident response & investigations related to Process Safety topics for Coating Solutions Segment (CSS) operations in the Americas region. The role is the functional leader of the AMAS Process Safety Network - which includes select local associates deemed Process Safety Contacts for that site. This position is also the primary regional Process Safety Contact for the KOP ISG teams in terms of Directive Implementations and Metric/KPI tracking and trending.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

Provide guidance, assistance, and technical support to CSS Americas sites to help maintain compliance and achieve company objectives in terms of major risk prevention and local Process Safety Management systems. (50%)

Leadership role in the CSS Process Safety Network through frequent technical meetings, development and support for training programs, harmonization of Process Safety programs and practices to ensure BU-wide consistency. (10%)

Coordination of the New Leader Review (NLR) program for regional Plant Managers and Operations Supervisors including review scheduling, action item tracking, preparation oversight and constructive guidance on presentation efforts. (2.5%)

Primary contact and liaison with Arkema DSEG and KOP for matters and programs related to Process Safety or Major Risk Management include incident details, program development and performance metric development, tracking and trending. (2.5%)

Scheduling, Resource Loading and Technical Review of Risk Management efforts throughout the CSS including PHA, LOPA and select PSSR and MOC efforts if related to Process Safety considerations. (25%)

Provide support and/or technical assistance for capital projects, siting studies and diligence efforts, particularly in the areas of release modeling, facility siting and inherently safer design practices. (2,5%)

Coordinate/Oversee/Lead Root Cause Investigations of Major Process Safety Incidents and/or select other Process Safety events including identification of root causes/corrective actions, corrective action plans, communications of results to Arkema/CSS Senior Management and necessary follow-up. (5 %)

Coordinate consequence analyses utilizing modeling software for toxic releases, fires and explosions, pipe decompressions, BLEVEs and other scenarios that could lead to injuries, property damage or business interruption in a timely fashion commensurate with all regulatory notification deadlines. (2.5%)

Minimum Qualifications and Education Required

Minimum Years of Experience: Preferred 5-10 years

Education and area of focus: Chemical Engineering BS or Technical Equivalent

Certifications/Trainings: Arkema Process Hazards Analysis (PHA) & LOPA completion

Competencies -Knowledge Skills & Abilities (KSAs):

Process Safety experience within the Chemical Industry sector

Working knowledge of key programs and tools including Process Hazards Analyses (PHA), Scenario Modeling (RAST, DOROTE, etc.).

Physical Demands/Working Conditions:

Will require frequent visits to, inspections of and work within the perimeter of industrial chemical manufacturing sites.

Ability to wear appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) as required during onsite and in-field activities in facility processing areas

Expected Travel percentage between 33-50%
