Incumbent will perform duties as a Loaner Tray Coordinator: Manages and follows department business and regulatory practices when receiving, inventorying, processing and returning of vendor loaner, consigned and owned instrument & implant trays; when indicated by patient care requirements. Other major duties include, but are not limited to, distribution of supplies or equipment, customer service and departmental efficiencies. Incumbent facilitates care and processing of surgical instruments; and functions in the Certified Sterile Processing Technician role as needed. Cross training will be provided. Incumbent develops and recommends new policies, procedures, and practice and implements specific recommendations, which may include coordinating with several service departments and personnel; provides advice and assistance with problem solving. Assignments are given according to organizational goals. Attainment of goals are reviewed on an as needed basis within the UCLA Healthcare Main Operating Room, RR Campus under the direct supervision of Sterile Processing MSO, Asset Manager, Assistant Director of the Operating Room and the Director of Perioperative Services. Incumbent will collaborate along with the SPD Manager and the Director of Perioperative Services regarding operations within the sterile processing department.
Qualifications

Working knowledge of Universal Precautions to Peri-Operative practice. Working knowledge of use, function, and operation of Operating Room equipment, instrumentation, and furniture. Working knowledge of Operating Room sanitation, aseptic technique, surgical procedures, anatomy and terminology. Ability to read and write proper English Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationship with peers and other co-workers. Skill in working independently with minimal direction and supervision. Skill in performing repetitive work according to set procedures, sequence and pace. Physical ability to lift heavy objects, push or pull heavy carts, handle surgical equipment carefully and safely and stand for long period. Ability to learn new procedures and improve existing skills by participating in various types of training courses. Graduate of recognized Surgical Technologist program or certified Surgical Technologist with more than one-year experience. Ability to demonstrate current possession of National Certificate for Surgical Scrub Technician. 1) Scrub Tech background preferred. 2) Central Service certification preferred 3) Strictly obeys the healthcare regulations for infection control: failure to adhere to these regulations will result in disciplinary action. 4) Properly utilizes and provides resource information regarding proper sterilization techniques, product information, equipment operation, etc. To fellow staff and other healthcare team members, serves as a resource for people needing direction as required. 5) Consistently demonstrates a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail. 6) Actively participates in Quality Management and PIE programs where appropriate. 7) Consistently adheres to UCLA Perioperative Services policies and procedures. 8) Attends all in-services/workshops as requested. Assists in the orientation and skill development of new staff members. Attends and participates in required fire, safety, disaster, body mechanics, etc. Classes and/or drills. 9) Always ensures a safe working environment for self and co-workers. Monitors and reports unsafe acts or conditions and takes appropriate proactive steps to resolve and/or report. 10) Consistently maintains good guest relations interdepartmentally, interdepartmentally, using English language in both written and verbal format, uses good telephone etiquette, sensitive to co-workers, patients, physicians, and family members, consistently maintains a courteous and respectful manner, confidentiality of patients, healthcare or physician related information 11) Maintains a positive attitude and behavior: efficient and productive with time utilization. Strives to be a team player. Adapts to change in workload. Conducts personal business on break or lunchtime. 12) Always rotates supplies, both prepackaged and interdepartmentally packaged, using the first in/first out method. Always inspects for package integrity and appropriate change of chemical indicators. 13) Always responds to the needs of all areas. If unable to meet their needs keeps them informed and offer alternatives. Prioritizes appropriately and knows when to call for assistance. 14) Able to rotate efficiently to all shifts as assigned. 15) Able to work independently 16) Ability to safely perform repetitive bending, stooping, squatting, standing, sitting during an eight to twelve-hour day. 17) Ability to push and pull heavy case carts 18) Sufficient dexterity and strength to perform standard duties including assisting in, documentation and equipment use. 19) Ability to learn, understand and navigate computer systems -CareConnect, LAWSON, MS Excel, MS Access 20) Skill in persuading others to accept and comply with established practices to expedite the smooth functioning of the Department. 21) Ability to accept shift changes as the needs of the Department require 22) Skill in setting priorities, recognizing emergency situations and taking appropriate action based on past experiences or according to instructions from the Nurse-in-Charge 23) Skill in working independently and following through on assignments with minimal direction and supervision. 24) Skill in performing repetitive work according to set procedures, sequence, and pace. 25) Ability to respond to Emergency Call (i.e. In case of a disaster), and follow instructions. 26) Physical ability to lift heavy objects, push or pull heavy carts, handle surgical equipment carefully and safely and stand for long periods of time. 27) Ability to learn new procedures and improve existing skills by participating in various types of training courses. 28) Ability to reprocess flexible scopes.
