The Opportunity:

Are you a skilled craftsman with a passion for creativity and innovation? We are seeking a versatile individual to join our team as a Model Services Technician. In this role, you will be responsible for training for and supporting various aspects of modelmaking, tool crib service, and a range of fabrication processes including 3D printing, mold making, casting, machining, copper plating, DIJ printing, packaging, painting, laser cutting, vinyl cutting, and general shop maintenance.

What Your Impact Will Be:

  1. Modelmaking: Assist in the creation of detailed physical models based on provided designs. Utilize various materials and techniques to accurately represent concepts and designs.
  2. Tool Crib Service: Maintain and organize tools and equipment inventory. Provide customer service and maintain check out logs.
  3. Fabrication Processes:
    • 3D Printing: Support staff with post-processing and train to operate and maintain 3D printers.
    • Mold Making and Casting: Prepare molds, mix, and pour casting materials, and assist in the casting process.
    • Machining: Operate manual and CNC machines to fabricate parts with precision.
    • Copper Plating: Execute copper plating processes adhering to quality standards.
    • DIJ Printing: Set up and operate DIJ printers for various applications.
    • Packaging: Assist in creating packaging comps for trade shows and sales related meetings.
    • Painting: Apply paint and finishes to models and prototypes, following design specifications.
    • Laser Cutting: Operate laser cutting equipment to fabricate parts from various materials.
    • Vinyl Cutting: Utilize vinyl cutting machines to create decals and signage as needed.
  4. General Maintenance: Perform routine maintenance to support a safe and organized work environment.

What We're Looking For:

  • Previous experience in any of the above-mentioned or related fields.
  • Currently enrolled in or completion of related certified apprenticeship, college, or trade school program.
  • Proficiency in fabrication techniques and materials.
  • Familiarity with 3D printing, machining, and other fabrication processes.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to produce high-quality work under tight deadlines.
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and part of a collaborative team.
  • Willingness to learn and adapt to new technologies and processes.
  • Experience with general shop maintenance tasks is a plus.
  • Exposure to or experience with computer applications i.e., Creo, SolidWorks, Rhino, ZBrush, Freeform, Adobe, Microsoft, ArtiosCAD, etc.

The base hourly rate for this position is between$22.00 and $28.50 per hour
**This range is indicative of projected hiring range, however base hourly rate will be determined based on a candidate's work location, skills and experience.
