Job Description

How will you make an impact?

The Receptionist is the first impression of the Glaukos corporate campus. They are the host to our guests, clients, and board members. The Receptionist will act as a brand ambassador whose primary focus is to welcome and direct our guests at the front desk. This position must be able to juggle a high frequency of incoming phone calls and transfer to the correct department or individual. It is imperative phones are handled professionally and positively, as a smile can be heard over the phone. The receptionist will assist in the security of the campus by monitoring the visitor logbook and issuing visitors' badges. Responsibilities also include maintaining an up-to-date company directory and assisting with other general administrative duties.

What will you do?

  • Greet visitors at reception and notify the appropriate party and/or department of the visitors' presence
  • Answer phone calls politely and with a smile. Transfer calls to appropriate party and/or department
  • Manage minor requests for information/assistance
  • Respond to inquiries from employees, vendors, and outside customers by referring to the appropriate party and/or department
  • Maintain a clean and uncluttered lobby
  • Collect, organize, and distribute incoming and outgoing mail and packages
  • Provide administrative and clerical support with the Facilities department
  • Reserve rooms and arrange for catering food service for department meetings
  • Ensure the front desk is always staffed while distributing mailing and during receptionist's breaks and lunch hour
  • Maintain an up-to-date company directory including but not limited to changes in staff, titles, phone numbers, and addresses
  • Order business cards
  • Order name badges for staff and visitors
  • Maintain and update visitor logbook including distributing and collection visitors' badges
  • Develop and maintain a current receptionist standard operating procedure manual
  • Support and comply with the company's Quality Management System policies and procedures
  • Other duties as assigned

How will you get here?

  • High School or GED equivalent required; college preferred
  • Minimum one (1) year current experience in office setting answering multiple line phone systems and performing general clerical duties
  • Microsoft Office, Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint
  • Strong communication skills including but not limited to writing, interpersonal and verbal skills
  • Professional and personal telephone etiquette with the ability to manage and screen multiple phone calls simultaneously
  • Excellent time management skills; organized and able to prioritize tasks
  • Good follow through and dedication to the process
  • Ethical conduct; flexibility; takes initiative

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to use computers daily in an interactive manner for extended period and up to 8 hours per day
  • Ability to sit for an extended period
  • Ability to communicate with employees and visitors in person, by telephone, or via email
  • The ability to lift to 40 pounds
  • Ability to work standing and walking
