Job Description

At Danone, Manufacturing the best products and supplying them to meet demand is a key driver for our plant teams. We have an opening for a Supply Chain Planner/Buyer based in City of Industry, CA. This role will need proficiency in both skills of buying and planning.

The Supply Chain Buyer / Planner will schedule and replenish finished goods, packaging & ingredient inventories for Danone North America products at the City of Industry manufacturing facility. The incumbent will reconcile packaging/ingredient receipts to purchase orders and accurately track packaging/ingredient costs to maintain a desired level of working capital. The incumbent must be a change catalyst with strong communication and time management skills who has an entrepreneurial mindset. This position will be reporting to the Production Planning Manager.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Create and manage leveled production schedule for assigned production lines using APO
  • Prepare and release production orders and monitor each order is completed on time
  • Conduct capacity planning for assigned production lines to meet company targets
  • Communicate customer service of delays to production schedule and forecast
  • Manage desired inventory levels of packaging/ingredients to support production schedules
  • Initiate purchase orders to replenish inventories
  • Provide production consumption and forecast information to plants and suppliers to improve efficiencies
  • Collect information on rejected packaging/ingredients from the plants and follow through with suppliers for credit memos
  • Work with Accounts Payable to reconcile and approve receipts
  • Work with the Procurement department to implement and manage the exit of discontinued packaging/ingredients and the introduction of new packaging/ingredients at the production facilities
  • Develop a rapport with packaging/ingredient suppliers, purchasing agents at the plant level, and all Danone departments involved with packaging/ingredients (QA, R&D, Technical Services, Marketing, Sales, Accounting, and Logistics)
  • Process Procurement master data forms, enter data in SAP, confirm for approval and accuracy
  • Manage raw material/packaging inventory and compare with Min/Max levels and daily consumption
  • Monitor on-order quantity of each product
  • Communicate with assigned Business Unit Manager on availability of ingredients and packaging
  • Analyze and report cycle count variances
  • Complete quality audits
  • Assign additional cycle counts as needed
  • Identify continuous improvement opportunities
  • Maintain accuracy of all raw materials and packaging goods inventory
  • Work closely with all other work teams, including corporate planners and internal plant teams to maintain targeted customer service
  • Monitor BOM changes during SKU transitions
  • Other duties as assigned

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor degree preferred (supply chain or business degree preferred)
  • APICS CPIM certified preferred
  • 2+ years food industry experience preferred
  • Stong Excel experience
  • Root cause analysis experience
  • Purchasing, scheduling and inventory management experience
  • Managing product life cycle experience
  • SAP experience
  • MRP
  • 5S/Lean Manufacturing and process improvement experience preferred
  • Ability to adjust schedule to support 24/7 Manufacturing Operation, may include working overtime, graveyard shift and/or weekends as business needs dictate

The base compensation range for this position is $65,000K - $90,000K commensurate with experience.   • Knowledge of SAP and Microsoft Office
  • Knowledge and understanding of material flow related to production requirements planning
