Air Products and Chemicals, Inc. (NYSE:APD), a Fortune 500 manufacturer of industrial gases and chemicals, has an IMMEDIATE opening for an experienced Plant Operator at its Wilmington, CA facility.

The Southern California refinery H2 facilities are located 2-7 miles from each other, and currently consist of two (2) SMR (steam methane reformers) units and associated equipment within the growing Los Angeles area H2 pipeline franchise and two stand alone SMR's.

The Operations Tech will be responsible for controlling and monitoring the processes to produce hydrogen, which includes operating and controlling the following:

  • Water Treatment Systems (Boiler and Cooling Water Systems)
  • Steam Turbines for power generation
  • Compressors
  • DCS monitoring systems
  • Rotating Equipment
  • Catalyst Reactors
  • Pneumatically Operated and Manual Valves
  • Pressure Swing Adsorption skid

Qualified applicants must have a high school diploma or equivalency, be willing to work 12-hour rotating shifts at either of the 2 facilities, and on limited occasions assist other AP sites in North America with Operations support. Being a dedicated team player, having a commitment to safety, and strong communications skills are a must.

Within the Operations Tech role you will work hand in hand with Mechanical Technicians, Instruments Technicians, other Operations Tech's, and Process Engineers to safely and efficiently maintain and operate the Hydrogen Plant(s), to include participating in the management of effective safety programs. This is a safety sensitive position.

Entry level pay: $46.28/hr (8 hr shift) PLUS overtime and bonus.
