Job Description

We are seeking aFire Protection Engineerwith 0 - 3 years of experience to support our Fire Protection Engineering Department. This position will support projects that involve smoke control special inspections and testing services, which will require travel to active construction sites in Southern California. This position may require working flexible non-standard business hours, to meet project schedules.

The ideal candidate should have a desire to work in the field in support of smoke control special inspections and to grow as a team player within our Fire Protection department. The position will also support our Fire Protection Department in performing automatic suppression system design; fire detection, alarm and mass notification system design; code analysis; egress analysis; fire resistant construction analysis; smoke control analysis; as well as general fire protection and life safety concepts and research.

Compensation and Benefits

  • Approximate Base Salary - $70,000 - $90,000 annually
  • Paid overtime at 1.0 times hourly rate
  • Competitive end of year discretionary bonus based on company/team/personal performance

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree (B.S.) from accredited college or university in Fire Protection Engineering, Fire Sciences, related engineering field, or construction management.
  • Flexibility to work non-standard hours and overtime hours based on project schedule demands.
  • Zero to three years of experience in the fire protection engineering/consulting profession, or in the construction industry working with fire protection, fire alarm, or MEP systems.
  • Desire to participate in site inspections on active construction sites.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Owns personal transportation to allow travel to multiple jobsites or meeting locations where public transportation is not available.
  • Acknowledgement and understanding of commutes that require travel between workplaces and project sites.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • PE, NICET level III / IV, or EIT.
  • Experience coordinating with a multi-discipline design team and construction team.
  • Proficiency in Bluebeam, Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel.
  • Experience with managing day-to-day contacts with internal and external clients utilizing experience and technology to meet expectations.
  • Experience attending and participating in local professional organizations, such as SFPE.
  • Experience performing building and fire code analysis and code interpretations.
  • Experience designing, inspecting, and/or testing fire protection systems including suppression systems, fire detection, alarm and communication systems and performing analysis of existing fire protection systems.
  • Project management experience, including project management skills for managing internal projects as well as external client needs.
