JOB DESCRIPTION:

SUMMARY

The ideal candidate for this role will have experience relating to Injection Molds and/or Rotational Molds in a mold shop environment.

Manage and coordinate activities of Mold Shop employees who work on items for injection molding, composite molding, structural web molding, CNC operations, rotational molding, and/or engineering/qualification mold testing. Supervises the activities of Mold Shop employees to achieve continuous improvement in quality, cost, safety, and productivity in accordance with the goals of the company. Supervises and coordinates day-to-day activities of Mold Shop employees as per Mold Shop Manager and MOS guidelines. Performs assignments, assists others, and/or oversees repairs or tasks to all existing molds, new mold preparation, or secondary tooling. Schedules work times and set priorities for their area of responsibility. Implements procedures, fixtures, machinery and products. Coordinates activities concerned with research and development of new products.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Managing, organizing, and monitoring the routine maintenance and cleaning of injection molds, composite molds, structural web molds, shop machinery, rotational molds, foam fixtures, and/or secondary tooling.
  • Oversees new injection mold preparation, EOA or foam fixture, rotational mold, and/or secondary tooling construction.
  • Manages, supervises and follows up on repairs or modifications done in house and with outside vendors
  • Interprets and applies company policies to employees through daily interactions, meetings and enforces safety regulations.
  • Partners with production department managers, engineering, and quality to support/work on projects and process improvement opportunities.
  • Interprets or creates specifications, blueprints, and work orders to employees, and assigns specific duties
  • Establishes or adjusts work procedures to meet production schedules.
  • Works closely with production and engineering and recommends measures to improve production methods, equipment performance, and the quality of product.
  • Administer personnel functions, including recruiting, assisting in review and approval of job descriptions, salary classifications, selection and placement of personnel.
  • Creates and delivers performance evaluations and disciplinary corrective actions, as needed.
  • Suggests and implements changes in working conditions and use of equipment to increase efficiency of shop, department, or employees.
  • Analyzes and resolves employee conflicts and or assists workers in solving work problems. Actively engage with employees to motivate and assist them to achieve work goals.
  • Maintain reliable and consistent attendance, including being punctual, and dependable in order to meet the needs of the department and the organization.
  • Execute each essential duty satisfactorily in order to perform job successfully.
  • Follows all safety procedures required in work area, wears PPE as needed, attends all safety meetings, and reports safety issues regarding equipment or unsafe/hazardous conditions.
  • Performs effectively as a team member, able to work well with others, open to receive and give feedback, and treats everyone with respect.
  • Takes ownership of own work and behavior, accepts accountability for own actions, encourages solutions, and communicates status of work/projects.
  • Follow all department quality standards/criteria. Raise concerns and issues to immediate manager.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • High School Diploma or general education degree (GED)
  • College or Certificate of Merit Courses related to Machining, Mechanics, Mold Repair/Maintenance, Mold Making, Injection Mold Processing
  • 3-5 years of supervisory experience relating to Injection Molds and/or Rotational Molds in a mold shop environment.
  • Intermediate MS Word and Excel. CAD/CAM experience.
  • Must possess strong verbal and written communications skills
  • Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customer. Have the ability to effectively present information to top management.
  • Ability to work with fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. Reasoning ability/Communication both verbal & written

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year College or university; or five to eight years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Sitting, walking, standing, bending at the neck, bending at the waist, squatting, climbing, kneeling, twisting at the neck and waist, repetitive use of hands, simple grasping, power grasping, fine manipulation, pushing and pulling, reaching above and below the shoulder, carrying/lifting up to 75 lbs.

PPE Requirements

  • Safety glasses
  • Nitrile Gloves, Chemical Resistant Gloves, Utility gloves/cutting Gloves and Welding Gloves when applicable
  • Steel-toe slip-resistant shoes
  • Hardhat or Bump Cap when applicable
  • Hearing protection (e.g. ear plugs, ear muffs)
  • Face shields When applicable
  • Face covering (mask) in accordance with company policy.

COMPENSATION RANGE:

$89,440-$125,000

Salary may vary based on experience.
