Job Description
General Responsibilities:
Perform tests and sampling of environmental materials including air, groundwater, building materials, and noise. Operates field monitoring equipment. Assists with operation and maintenance of remediation systems. May assist with asbestos surveys, abatement projects and Phase I preliminary site assessments. Transport material samples or documents to the lab for further testing and analysis. Tabulate and prepare data for written reports. Cleans and maintains field monitoring equipment. Adhere to strict safety standards.

Essential Roles and Responsibilities:
  • 3rd Shift, 11pm - 7 am Sunday through Thursday.
  • Performing building inspections for asbestos-containing materials in accordance with EPA, State, and Local requirements;
  • Testing of surface coatings for lead paint (via paint chip) in commercial and industrial settings;
  • Performing mold inspections and sampling for suspect microbial growth;
  • Performing standardized and sometimes complex field tests as directed and/or special inspections as required;
  • Performing air monitoring and visual inspections during asbestos abatement projects;
  • Calibration of field monitoring equipment as required;
  • Inspection and sampling within industrial setting;
  • Performing indoor air quality assessments;
  • Maintaining quality standards on all projects;

Requirements:
  • High school diploma or equivalent; B.S. in Industrial Hygiene or Environmental Scient preferred
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft office products
  • Good written communication skills with the ability to type reports
  • Overnight travel may periodically be required
  • Valid driver's license with acceptable violation history
  • Required inspector certifications in asbestos, lead, radon, and/or mold; or the ability to obtain these certifications
  • The ability to obtain a Jessica Lunsford Act badge for work conducted in K-12 facilities
Preferred Certification:
  • AHERA Building Inspector Certification required.
  • Certification in field of expertise.
  • Other national, regional, state, and local environmental related certifications requiring experience and written examination will also be considered if deemed appropriate by the Terracon Department Manager.
