Job Description

Reporting to the State Managing Attorney, the Associate Attorney is responsible for litigating a full caseload of debt collection matters, reviewing pleadings, attempting to reach resolution of contested matters, and other reports as required by state and firm needs.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

· Reviews correspondence and files to determine if suit appropriate.

· Reviews, answers, and prepares discovery and dispositive motions.

· Manages all aspects of preparing for and conducting of trials throughout the state.

· Represents clients in pre-suit and post-judgement matters including filing of post judgment remedies (attachment and garnishment).

· Handles counterclaims and self-defends lawsuits brought against the firm or our clients.

· Other responsibilities as assigned.

Required Skills/Abilities:

· Prior experience with a creditor’s rights firm or consumer’s rights firm a plus.

· Understanding statutes and case law surrounding California Civil Procedure, State and Federal statutes concerning debt collection, such as FDCPA/FCRA/TCPA is required.

· Must have the ability to work independently.

· Managing shifting priorities in a fast paced, results driven environment is required.

· Must be able to collaborate and effectively communicate with attorneys and non-attorney staff.

Education and Experience:

· Requires a JD in law and bar admission in California.

· Entry level litigation position.

Physical Requirements:

· Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.

· Frequently required to talk or hear, and use hand to type, handle, or touch objects.

· Regularly required to stand and walk, and may be required to stoop, bend, or reach above the shoulders.

· Must be able to occasionally lift up to 25 pounds at times.

· Must be able to access and navigate each department at the organization’s facilities.

Work Environment:

The is a remote based position.

Schedule:

Monday through Friday, typically 8am to 5pm with some flexibility to support business needs.

Job Type: Full-time

Salary: $95,000.00 - $110,000.00 per year
