Religious Statement

Although this position does not require or confer ordination, this position is considered a "ministry position" as it incorporates faith-based programming. Uniform wearing Salvationists with a demonstrated strong personal faith and agreement with the teaching of Holy Scripture as explained in The Salvation Army "Articles of War" and the "Handbook of Doctrine" are preferred for this position. Due to the scope of oversight for the position, inability, or unwillingness to maintain a lifestyle and witness consistent with the above stated documents will be grounds for termination.

Position Summary

The purpose of this position is to plan, coordinate, and execute youth-based programming and events as coordinated with the Red Shield Program Director. These programs and events include, but are not limited to, annual gatherings, weekly programming, external (partnership) programs, and various other special or coordinated events.

Pay Range

$21.00/hr. - $24.00/hr.

Essential Functions

  • Keep program member's contact information updated and current, ensuring electronic databases and printed records reconcile.
  • Ensure all program participants have Release waivers on file yearly, and that contact information is maintained as noted above.
  • Ensure all High Awards are pursued and applied for. Keep records and complete applications for such. These would include, but not limited to, Christian Education (Troops, Teen Activities, Summer Camps, etc.), Curriculum based youth education (Red Shield Youth Clubs, Day Camps, etc.) programming. This also includes planning review committees.
  • Must be aware of, implement, and observe all necessary Child Safety (Protecting the Mission) policies.
  • Maintain calendar of events, ensuring invitations and reminders are sent digitally, and that paper copies are made for those without computers.
  • Obtain all necessary information of interested programs and events participants and process accordingly.
  • Oversee and meet with assigned staff schedules and responsibilities and ensure training, certifications, and, required documentation is up to date and recorded appropriately.
  • Assist in the employee processes of assigned staff.
  • Coordinate fundraising ideas, events, or pathways (grants, community funding, savings portals) with Director of Programs and Development.
  • Track frequency of work activities to flow into monthly statistical reporting system of The Salvation Army as well as be retrievable on the basis or type of service rendered.
  • Supervise all volunteer or staff leaders who assist with the above-mentioned programs and events.
  • Ensure leaders have adequate supplies for programs and coordinate with office staff for refiling.
  • Attend, promote and assist with community-based activities relating to the position.
  • Other duties as assigned by Corps Officer or Red Shield Program Director within the scope of the position.

Working Conditions

Ability to walk, stand, bend, squat, climb, kneel and twist on an intermittent or sometimes continuous basis. Ability to grasp, push, pull objects such as files, file cabinet drawers, and reach overhead. Ability to operate computer, fax and telephone. Ability to lift up to 25 lbs.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Associate degree in related field preferred.
  • Experience in multi-faceted Program-centric business activities and administration; or equivalent relevant experience in Salvation Army management positions.
  • The successful candidate will have a broad-spectrum skill set including managerial proficiency, public speaking, staff management and written communication expertise.
  • Be able to pass all required courses and training associated with the position.
  • Retain a driver's license, be able to drive Salvation Army vehicles (Class B license preferred) and pass all necessary background checks.
  • Strong use of the English language in verbal and written communication (Spanish/English bi-lingual preferred).

Experience
Minimum Experience In Multi-Faceted Program-Centric business Activities And Administrator; Or Equivalent Relevant Experience In Salvation Army Management Positions. (required)
